It's not stiff anymore....

My driver's side floor mat, that is.

The backing material has been gradually breaking off to the point where the floormat is basically a limp piece of carpet that I have to sort of tap down with my foot to get it to lay flat. Otherwise, it is in great shape, no wear, the RX7 logo still vivid, etc.
I wonder if there is some way to re-apply a backing of some sort to firm this thing up again?

You can peel the old stuff off and try to apply some spray on ruberized undercoating. I plan on trying this because mine are in the same shape as yours.

GB section has an excellent option for replacements.

Get it clean with the right (upholstery) adhesive that might work. I wonder if an upholstery shop has something special for that application.
Mine did the same thing. I ended up just going this route a few years ago.....
