this may be a stupid question but i gotta know

well the other day i was playing on the expressway with four other friends well after five or ten mins of 130+ i let off and had the backfire from hell. i spit fire for about 10 to 15 seconds which i could see from the the front of the car which was intense. well after shortly after that my Y pipe came off and made me stock twins sound like a single turbo supra. well i drove home because my house is like 10mins from the E-way and we did a compression and a boost check to see if we had done everything is fine but i found out the secondary turbo is done. now on to my question i have a single turbo GT35RS at my house i have been waiting to put it on but i have no IC pipeing from the turbo to the FMIC.i have seen a couple of guys on the fourms put there turbo's on but baisicly run N/A till the got some IC piping the only reason why i ask is because this is my only car and obviously my DD any one know if its safe to do so?

I would be worried that something might find its way into the turbo. You could get your self a beater to tool around in till you get your ic piping made.

With a fd it is a good idea to have a second car.

your better off spending your money right by fabbing IC pipes and tuning for your new turbo.

Otherwise you could get a used set of twins in the forsale section. I think I saw one going for $300.

I think it would be unwise to run it open. Plus, if you lost your second turbo, there is no harm in driving the car. You just can't build full boost. This to me seems better than running the car "NA".

How do you know the turbo is actually bad? More that likely its just the turbo control system.

this will be no help to you, but I have to say - running 0 boost on an FD is heartbreaking. I popped my ic piping and had the same result - I swear I was almost in tears

i agree with 7racer. just drive your car "as is" for a bit till you can afford to swap in the 35rs. dont produce boost and the car should be fine.

You can't just "swap in" a single turbo and drive the car. There are many mods that will be necessary first....please read up!

hahahahaa I had the same thing happen to me and the FD is a slow car when your not boosting. I was driving home when it happened and when I went to merge I almost got rear ended because I had NO POWER!!!!

It's a sad thing to drive around an FD that doesn't boost (almost like your car is sick), but I would drive it with a limp turbo than risking the mocked up single job.

goodluck,
-josh

this happened to me once too on a test run after doing some work. I still managed to out accellerate a V6 mustang that was pushing very hard lol.
