IRPerformance Motor Mount: Installation For Dummy (me)

I've been search for hours looking for motor mount installation instructions, specifically for the IRP mounts, and couldn't find too much detail. From my research I gather the following general motor mount swap procedure:

1) disconnect i/c and intake piping,
2) raise the car (duh),
3) remove skid cover,
4) unbolt the mounts,
5) jack the transmission until the car starts going up with it.

Beyond that I've read that this may require removal of sub-frame and unbolting the steering rack, but this is all very vague. More clear and exact instructions for this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You don't have to take the shubframe completely just unbolt it enough to pull down to allow room for the mounts.

I just unbolt the the bolts that connect it to the chassis.

Oil pan removal should be the same procedure did you search that?

I searched the oil pan stuff too, yes. That's how I pieced together the instruction above, but I'm sure I missed something critical (as I always do) and won't realize until it's too late.

Also what are the torque specs for the subframe and motor mounts 4 nuts/bolts?

I presume you mean to losen (unbolt is to remove the bolt) the subframe bolts?

I don't know the torque specs but for oil pan removal i unbolted it bc i needed a lot of room but for mounts loosening the bolts should give you enough room.

I prefer to unbolt the subframe but leave it connected to the suspension arms, this gives you a lot of room to work with if you need it.

Jake you could just could have called me at the shop. If you have two steel motor mount arms on your car and are not re-sealing the oil pan at this time, you don't have to remove the motor mount arms from the motor. First unbolt the two 14mm motor mount nuts from the subframe. Using either an engine support that spans across the fenders or a jack under the transmission, raise the motor as high as it goes. There should be enough flex in the intercooler and intake piping to do so without removing them. If anything binds up, stop and check. You only need a couple inches. Once the motor is raised you can remove the stock motor mount pucks from the arms. You will have to remove the heat shield on the passenger side mount first and then slide off the safety bands. You need to disassemble my mounts to install them this way. Maneuver the polyurethane puck under the motor mount arm into its slot in the subframe. Line up the provided bolt and washer and slide them through the motor mount arm, the puck, and subframe. Do the same for both sides. If you are on stock twins it might be easier if you loosen the rear oil return line. Once everything is lined up, lower the motor back down onto the mounts. Place the red polyurethane bushing under the subframe and install the washer and lock nut. Tighten the nut until the red bushing just begins to compress. If you have an aluminum arm on the driver's side, you will need to either remove it and modify it, or replace it will a steel arm. I can modify you an arm at the shop. If you are re-sealing the oil pan, then it is quite a bit more work as the subframe has to be lowered. Call me if you have any questions. There are a few pics of the mounts installed in my holiday specials thread.

I also made some slight changes to the design and added some washers. If you like you can pick up a set at the shop at no charge.

If you are replacing your aluminum mount with a steel one, do you need all the pieces associated with the steel mount? Or will the parts off the aluminum one swap over and you just need the steel portion itself?

^^You don't really need anything else aside from the arm itself and the IRP mount/hardware

I just installed a set without removing my motor:

Here's a bunch of semi-step-by-step photos from my install:

Hope that helps.
