I've been having this problem for quite sometime now. I get water buildup on the passanger side floor under the seat. I cant seem to figure out where it is coming from. It has created a mildew smell inside the car. Does anyone know a good place to start looking to find the leak. This has become even more of a problem lately as I dont drive the car much anymore, so it sits for long periods of time without being "aired out" Any help or ideas would be great.

I already took the seats out, and plan on taking out the carpet tomorrow to try and dry everything out completely.

did you work on the AC recently? if I remember correctly, the hose/leak area is aorund the passenger foot area if you're missing the hose.

Usually these type of leaks are traced back to a leaking heater core that drips down into the carpet. Check that.

A/C has been removed from the car for about 2 years now. It only seems to get like this after it rains, then it stays wet until it all evaporates out. And as much rain as I have had in my area this year, it never gets a chance to completely dry.

I've thought about that, but then wouldnt I also have the smell of antifreeze along with it. This is just pure water that is building up in the car.

I dont know if its a bad seal around the door or what, will check into it deeper when I pull everything out tomorrow so it can dry out and be cleaned to get rid of the mold/mildew smell.

I did get a chance to pull out both seats last night and under the passanger side, there was literally an inch of water puddled. I was amazed and disgusted at the same time that the leak is that bad.

Just a note, I dont have a garage, which leads me to believe its rain/leak related.

I had the same issue, and I found the culprit and hopefully fixed the problem.

Background: After leaving the car outside in the rain for few weeks straight, I noticed the passenger side carpet was soaking wet. Lifted thr carpet and there was a swimming pool in the passenger footwell

Diagnosis: first thing I checked was the AC drain, but it was still intact, and my AC hasn't worked for years. Next, I lifted the carpet in the footwell (may need to remove several plastic panels) and dried the area as much as possible. Had a friend hose down the car while I watched from the inside. I started noticing water trickling in from the wiring harness which are fed through a large hole in the firewall. We opened the hood and started pouring water right on the windshield and watch where the water went. It turns out the rubber seal between the hood and firewall was not sealing properly, so water was able to seep through from under the seal. With enough water and time, water will fall onto the wiring loom and follow it through the firewall into the passenger cabin.

Fix: I removed and cleaned the rubber seal as well as the top of the firewall. Then I applied a strip of silicone sealant and reinstalled the rubber seal. I let it sit for serveral hours and make sure the sealant was dry. Then I poured water right by the seal and there was no more water seeping through the seal! All the water flowed into the drain near the hindge.

Hopefully that fixed the problem, and I can finally wash the car after 1 year...
