Interior Question? move if wrong forum..
Well foudn out previous owner put some kind of shoe polish or paint all over the bottom center, center and gauge cluster and cowl pieces i guess to make them shine... i was cleaning the dust off with watered down windex and it started gunking on me.. had to remove all my consoles to celan em off but half of them we're cracked and missing screws i guess when the previous owner removed them. anyway besides the point... i'm wondering if anyone here knows where i can get replacements in Carbon Fiber if possible. since i'ma gonna replace them i figure i might as well do it in carbon. i found the mazdaspeed gauge cluster and cowl but it dosn't fit LHD Fd's.. and i dont' feel like cutting it up just to make it fit unless i have to. if i can't find it then i'll replace back to stocks. just cusios if anyone knows thansk!
Carlos.
Btw i've searched on internet =-)

First of all, I wouldn't use watered down Windex to clean plastic pieces. You might have taken off shoe polish, but you might have also taken off the original finish. If you want a "non-shine" interior cleaner try something like ArmorAll Multi-Purpose Auto Cleaner.
I know there are carbon fiber like pieces that will go over your instrument panel and center console. These pieces have 3M tape on the back and are a quick fix coverup. I'm not aware of anyone who makes an entire carbon fiber center console, but I could be wrong. Sorry, I don't have a link handy for the carbon fiber (or simulated carbon fiber) pieces I'm talking about, but I'm sure someone will chime in with a couple of sources.

reason i used watered windex is i cleaned well.. never had a problem with fading or crap coming off until thi shappened.. like you said it's prolly shoe polish... kinda ticks me off. but that's what happens when you buy a used car. i'm just "wondering" if they sell full replacements yet. i've found a few old threads... but to me those stick on look boo boo.. for that i might as well get factory pieces.... just figure if i'ma spend money on a new one from mazda. might as well spend a bit more for CF. thanks for the reply and anyone else that replies =-)

Some windex has alcohol in it. Alcohol strips UV coatings (paint) on dashes. The effect is cummulative. The more/longer you use it, the more likely it is to come off. If it doesnt come off this time...it might next time.
Rub rubbing alcohol on your wall at home....it will strip the paint right off. First it soaks in, then it gums up the paint, then it comes off in ***** and strips like rubber cement. If you still have crap all over you can use straight iso alcohol and it will strip the rest off.
We use it (iso) to clean the guns that spray that stuff onto the dashes at the factory.
As far as the carbon fiber goes:
All I have ever seen is the "stickers." i saw two guys who had sent them out for custom overlay...but it looked pretty bad and not worth the cost imo. Perhaps if they had sent them to someone who specialized in that sort of work it would have looked better.

There are a few companies that make real carbon fibre "stick-ons". They can look pretty nice if you take care appliying them. Other than that, you can go order the 94-95 parts from Mazda. It's been so long since the carbon fibre stickons were all the rage I've lost the link.
I covered my paint peeling dash, console, and door plastic with leather. Looks much better, deals with reflection in windshield, and cleans easily.

Mark Koch was one of the few members that did a full CF overlay. NOT a "stick on"
unfortunately he stopped for a while.

BTW the only diff in 94 and 95 is that it's textured? is it any sturdier?
and also by textured would i guess it looks like the 93 outter piece of the lower center console and rear compartments? or am i way off by the meaning "textured" pix possibly? thanks guys!!!
