Interior panel warpage?

Anyone ever have this happen or heard of it happening?

My Driver side Rear Quarterpanel piece (the one with the speakers for the rear) doesn't fit to my privacy board, (panel that separates the trunk/bins).. it fits on the bottom but not the top.. i have about a 1/2" gap there...

My body shop said that the heat/sun could have warped the plastics somewhat and thats why it doesn't fit properly.. they suggested i remove it and refit it, i did that, and same result. This weekend i plan on trying out my friends piece.

the car's frame is straight and there isn't any damage to anything. It pops in place fine and has no issues meeting up with the body of the car.. its just like it shrunk a little at the top or something.

Anyone got any ideas?

Where do you park your car?
What color interior do you have?
Did the warped piece hapen over night while in the car?
Did this happen while the piece was off of the car?
Do you have a picture?

i have a 93 7.

I'm the 3rd owner of the car.
Car used to be black, but 2nd owner repainted it white because he was tired of the Florida sun/heat.

Interior is Tan. I would imagine it happened while in the car.. and its been like that since i bought it.

I can take a picture if it would help?

theres no way the sun had anything to do with that

either it was in a big accident, the clips on that piece dont work right or he got that part from another rx7 or something and it wasnt EXACTLY the same.

I'm goin with the accident, the frame of your car prolly got bent somwhere along the line. You could probably mess around with the right panel, some how extend it a little bit on the upper portion to make it lay flush.... Dunno, couldnt be that hard.

ok well, i tried a friends and it fit the same. The clips and everything line up.. so do the guide pins!??!!

it all fits perfect, no haggling to get it back together. my car just got an alignment and it was perfect, the body shop said i would be wasting my time putting it on a frame machine.

Play with it a little more, something's not lined up right. I've had my pieces in and out, and this last time I had a gap very similar to yours. I just pulled and yanked a bit here and there, and then everything was back to normal. Make sure the other quarter panel is sitting correctly, because that may be the culprit - and you just have the divider lined up against that, 'throwing off' the good side.

Check the alignment of the rear tubs. See if they are pushing them up.
