IMO these metal clips are the bain of interior plastic. Problem is the metal clip is stronger than the plastic and more often than not breaks the plastic before popping loose. I find these type of plastic fasteners work pretty good in terms of fastening, but not good enough that they break the interior plastic

That's a completely different design..... are you using the part above in place of the small metal clips? Ie slide them into the interior panel and then index the clip into the hole in the OEM body panel?

Yep, you slide the circled part into the body fitting that the OEM metal clip fitted to. It's a semi circle that can accept these
and installed...

The nice thing is the don't hold near as hard as the OEM metal clips
i considered this, but i really think it's a little weak, and that it won't hold the panels well enough. i think the metal is the way to go, but i agree with you on them being too solid.
i actually have one attachment point on my interior 1/4 panel that has the plastic ripped off due to the metal clip grabbing too hard and not letting go (previous owner)!
i was just thinking. it's strange that i'm excited to replace all these little interior plastic clips and make everything solid. that's how i know i'm getting old.
back in my 20s i'd just gut it out and daily drive it.
