Interior Exterior Color Combinations

Has anyone ever documented Gen-3 int/ext color combinations? I have the stats by exterior color, but was looking for a little more detail.

I am particularly interested in how Silver/Red and Black/Red cars were produced. I would guess that the BB with red leather is quite a rare combination.

in global terms, the rarest of the rare are the tan-interiored cars.

I think you're right about that. I've only seen pictures of that combo, never in the flesh. I saw a photo of a black '94 with the more subdued red interior and it looked extremely good. But according to the factory sales brochure it would have had to had been a special order....in '94, only the silver exterior went with the red interior......so that may explain why they're so rare.

(The '93 sales brochure lists the red interior as going with silver or black cars.)

Well, you could always buy a black car with a black interior and recover the seats in red leather. That would be close to the photo of the '94 car I saw. The only other thing that car had, if I remember correctly, was red carpeting. The 94 red interior did not have red door panels and a red package shelf.

And to my eye, the shade of red used in 94 was more subdued than the red used in '93, and to me, the 94 looked better. But owners of those cars may have better info on that. You could also probably match up some red aftermarket carpeting, if you wanted to go that far.

Well, I think that would be easy to do, and leatherseats.com surely makes a nice repo. I am most interested in stock look and trim.. (getting rarer all the time).

The pic I have has red door panels. Looks really good in my opinion. I am super curious as to how many were actually made. Short of the pearl white, I am guessing this is among the rarest combo.

Is that true, or sarcasm? I think that the vintage-red cars with tan-leather interiors look the best, but I thought they were very common* (*in terms of 3rd-gen. RX-7's anyway).

They're not used in Japan (in fact, I can't recall seeing them in any other export market either). - therefore they are, in global terms, definitely the rarest.

In Japan, the red interiors are only found in the mid-90s Bathurst bargain sports editions.
