Intercooler size question

With my BorgWarner s360 turning up in the next few days ive been looking at fmic's

Abit limited as to whats on sale over in the U.K. Can get the standard ebay one. 3" core and 2.75" inlet and outlet. MAZDA RX7 RX-7 FD3S 92-02 FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER FMIC KIT BRAND NEW | eBay

Seen a few people say that these start to choke about 400bhp and as im hoping for between 4-450 will it cope? Other choice is get a 4" core with 3" inlet and outlet and try and get it to fit. Mishimoto R-Line Universal Alloy Intercooler - Silver | eBay I don't mind custom fabing the pipework up but how easy is it to fit the universal style as most have the outlets coming out the back. Anyone got any pics?

Cheers for the help guys

Before anyone says it I want to go front mount not vmount

Is RE:worx down in Portsmouth still in business? I've got their VMIC setup and it's pretty solid. Honestly I would pay the extra bit for a quality core that you know will work.

If you are referring to the Ebay Greddy 2 row copy, it will work just fine. Its a surprisingly good intercooler for the price. The only issues I've found with the kit is they sometimes forget to give a reducer coupler for the cold size discharge, and I've had to slightly bend the brackets. For the $300-450 the kit sells for, you can't complain.

I have a godspeed smic with my single (gt35r @ 15psi ~400rwhp) and I'm not sure what you mean about chocking near the 400hp mark. The car pulls fine as the IC does its job quite nicely...

As long as the person posting is not advertising their own for sale stuff is ok to post ebay or whatever links

We should note that not all IC's are created equal so in a sense its erroneous to lump ebay IC's in all one category.

Did what you read explain how exactly they choke out? Too much heat? how was the IC set up? FMIC or SMIC? Ducted?

I have around 400WHP and an Mspec intercooler. no problems here.

Another owner local to here bought a CXracing intercooler (A smaller core sized one at my recommendation) for a V-mount configuration. The size of the core is

Turbo Intercooler 21.5"x10"x3.25", 3.25" Core: 15"x10"x3.25", 2.5" Backward Inlets

cxracing.com: Turbo Intercooler 21.5"x10"x3.25", 3.25" Core: 15"x10"x3.25", 2.5" Backward Inlets

He ran his intake right next to the intercooler with his filter in the mouth of his bumper in a V-mount configuration. We made brackets ourselves for the radiator and intercooler. He bought 2.5" piping and couplers with an elbow off the turbo.

I tuned the car to 17PSI GT3574. His intake temps were in the 30C's on a 60-70F degree day. Car ran great.
