BC Interchanging Temp sensors FC to FD

A buddy gave me a free new water temp sensor from his old FC build. I was wondering if the thread is the same as the FD and if there is any pro's or con's with swapping them? need to replace mine anyways. haltech is also going in so it would be reading it.

The connector is totally different, the FC uses an old Bosch style connector with a metal retaining clip.

Those sensors last FOREVER, having a new one isn't that big of a deal.

I'm actually about to put the fc terminated harness in so I'll be swapping most connectors anyways. If the fc one will work that would be awesome as that is the clip already on the haltech harness. Would mean the only sensor I don't have to swap the clip lol.

Does the haltech allow you to set the sensor voltage/reading values?

if so you can use any sensor you want as long as you know the voltage vs temp curve. which is usually linear.

Just need to know the actual temp at 2 points.

the FC (actually every EFI Mazda up to the early 90's), and the FD sensor use the same values.

the FC sensor is a tight fit in an FD though, its very very close to the alternator. believe it or not the FD sensor being round gives it more room
