ON Interchangability of LHD and RHD doors

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if a driver's side door ( the metal part, not the interior trim) is interchangable between LHD and RHD FDs? Or are the doors specific to the version of the car?

I need a drivers door for my LHD FD; I want to know if the passenger door from a JDM car is the same piece of metal, but with a different interior cover, or is it entirely different?

Any guidance appreciated.

I do believe the US doors have more crash protection inside the door. The only part I'm not sure about is the screw holes for attaching the door panels, since they're different I don't know if that's changed. But, that should be pretty minor if it is the case.

My gut feel is yes, but I don't know if anyone here has a firm answer.

Door skins are the same - duh.

Entire door carries a different part number. There is an intrusion bar in the Japanese cars....should be a picture somewhere here from me, if it hasn't expired. Provision for switchgear left to right might be a difference to consider....small beans.

OK, so you feel that if I can find a good JDM passenger door, I could use it as the driver's door on a LHD FD?

Dunno, I'll never get the chance to test.

It would be absolutely amazing if you couldn't hang the door, the knick-knacks not bolting up without a fiddle, the most likely source of frustration. Here's the old thread

I had an accident on my driver's side door, I replaced it with a RHD drive model, it fits right in and the interior trim should fit right in as well. From what I saw is that the North American model has a metal bar inside whereas the Japanese model doesn't have it, when you close the door it'll sound a bit more hollow. But also, in that accident that metal bar saved me from breaking my arm.

Core structures are the same, except earlier Japanese cars did not have US side impact bars. I believe even Japan adopted this standard by time of '02 models.

If you have one to sell, I'm interested, Ken, All the ones I know of at the moment I would have to ship, so driving to Ancaster is an attractive option.

I would like a JDM drivers side. If you find a pair let me know and we can both get what we want.
