Question Installing New Front Cover Gasket

I'm in the process of installing a new front cover gasket. Unfortunately it's a paper gasket that i got from the local mazda dealership. I tried to get a new metal gasket from the 20B, but due to time restraints i didn't want to risk not having it all done in time for my tuning day.

so my question is this, when installing a new front cover gasket, should i apply any type of gasket sealer like Permatex? The service manual makes no mention of applying any type of sealant when reinstalling the front cover (and it does when referring to the oil pan installation). would using sealant help stop future leaks?

any input is appreciated. thanks.

anyone else have results like this? if that's the case i may just use sealant only like i'm doing for the oil pan, but i'd like to hear what other people have to say.
