get one with a heat shield at least, im sitting in 90+ degree weather with my non shielded intake, and a asp/m2 med IC and i can't see to get below 42c air intake temps, while the heat shield might not help drastically, every bit counts...i miss the winter where i see teens

What about the Apexi Intakes with hardpipes? The design seems pretty solid, except that it has no heat shield. Do you think one could be fabbed up? The intakes look like they take up too much room to use a home made shield.

For the most part...all of the filters on the market (K&N, Apexi, HKS, Blitz, etc.)...they all work.
20 hp? umm.

So you're saying you had the car dyno'd with the stock intakes,and then dyno'd once again only after you replaced with the Apexi intakes?That seems a bit tedious don't you think?Unless you are simply *guessing* that they added 20+ horsepower,in which case you should state that you are completely guessing,so that some newbie doesn't come along and think,"Wow,this guy with 6 posts just gained 20 or more horsepower from his intakes!"

Regarding the build your own intake from e-bay post... not to be a dick but there is alot of welding involved that was forgotten about, then after the welding there is a lot of polishing. So you're really not saving anything at all over the fighters kit it seems

A couple of random points:
(1) my pops has been running the apexi intake for over 4 years with zero problems. He dynoed 290 rwhp with that intake, dp, cb, and pfs box at 12 psi.
(2) The pettit intake is insanely overpriced if you buy it new.
(3) To the dude who posted about needing new filters, I can find you the part #s if you'd like. I'd have to dig them out of an old PM.
(4) Ray Lochhead at SR Motorsports is a thief, a scammer, and a scumbag. He has ZERO morals and will do anything to make a buck. I'll never deal with him again.
