Which intake should I get??

Hi I am new to 3rd gen rx-7's and was looking at two intakes.

One is the Pettit unit..Looks kind cheap and homemade , but I guess it does the job
The other was the box made by M2 Performance. Which is quite a bit more costly than the Pettit piece. I am wondering whatthe difference is? Isn't an air filter just and air filter? I was surprised to see the $380 price tag on such a small item. I was just looking for some opinon on this.

What a guy can't ask an opinion around here? I did search and I was now asking my question. No reply is required if you don't have anything to add tk5dan.

I understand where you're coming from in wanting opinions, but at the same time the older and/or archived threads are full of varying opinions which are still valid today.

Welcome to our crazy little forum

you didnt join at the wrong time. you just asked a question that people are tired of answering. please refer to the link provided that someone else has already come up with from a simple search. (and i am sure this is not the ONLY thread about you question.
please try to remember that you are not the only one who has asked questions when being new to the RX7. everyone has been there at one time or another and chances are, you questions have been answered over and over again. the answers do not change, but the attitude of the people answering them does. they dont feel like answering 8,432 time in a year

You know, I think everyone who joins this forum will think it's a bit unfriendly when the see how many people get flamed for reposting...I really thought the guys on here were a bunch of @$$ holes at first but now I see where they are coming from and why the get pissed and ask everyone to exhaust the search option...it's not so much that you can't ask our opinion, it's just that the forum is being filled with reposts and useless information....Coming from someone who was in your shoes less than a year ago just search well before you post, it will keep everyone from jumping on you...

In my opinion I like my Apexi dual cones, but I hear most people like the enclosed air boxes like the M2...a bit on the pricey side but supposed to be good at getting cold (cooler) air...

Welcome to the forum dude!

I am new as well and I got the same responses from people about the questions that I was asking. But hang in there I am getting the apex cai. I just like the way it looks and they all pretty much work the same. But be careful you might want to get a power fc as soon as possible if you get intake and exhaust to lessen detonation issues.
