Intake Question; I want to build a Custom heat sheild like Petit's

I want to fabricate my own sheet aluminum heat sheild like to mimimize the hot engine bay air from getting sucked into my RE Amemiya intake. Does anyone have a template for the heat shield already made? I thought I read somewhere where some guy was offering to send one out.

Can ya help a brutha out?

Just make a template out of cardboard to get the fitment issues worked out then trace it to the aluminum.

Even better, I'm in the process of getting some carbon fiber and I'm making a cold air box that gets air from the right duct (on touring) where the second oil cooler isn't

P'cola,

I'd be interested in seeing some pics of what you build...

Once I get started I'll see if I can borrow my GF's dad's digital camera. Won't be for a couple weeks though.

I looked at that to

I was hoping to pipe the filters in that section like on my Honda, but I didn't want to drill through what looked like the frame. There is a sorta oval opening behind the headlight though. I thought of using that rain gutter stuff for houses from home depot (lol).

Here's what I'm doing: taking 3" re-enforced tubing to go from the duct to the box. I read about someone putting it in their oven to heat it up and bend it, so it will fit past the headlight. The box will have a removable top like the m2 and will use the k&n filters already on there. Airpump exhaust tube will be completely silenced. Airpump intake tube will be filtered. Charge relief and blow off valves will likely be routed into the intake tubes to quiet them down some.
