Intake Air Temp Sensor craziness

As some of you know, theres a clip under the UIM that is the Air Intake Temp Sensor.
As we did my Rats Nest this past weekend we noticed something unusual.
I had the factory clip attached to a loose Air Intake Temp Sensor (it was just laying under the UIM) but there was another one screwed into the UIM !?!

Rotary Performance were the main ones to touch the car, I see alot of their tricks on cars and was wondering if this might be another one of those 'tricks'?

I went ahead and took the extra sensor off and put the clip on the sensor already in the manifold.
Later that day while testing my boost, I tripped a check engine light, I was driving pretty hard during 105' temps here in OKC, so I wouldnt be suprised if this has something to do with extreme intake temps.

Anyone seen this before?
