Insurance

Ok guys...Apparently my insurance company won't even touch the RX-7 because it's too "exotic" they said. LOL I feel honored... ANYWAY, they said anyone who will touch it, I'm looking at paying $2,000 in liability alone. So, I want to know who you guys use to insure your FD.

Thanks,

I'm carrying full coverage on my FD through Geico for just over $110 a month.

I'm 30, live in Dallas area and the car is listed as my primary car and being driven 12,000 miles a year. My record is clean.

It doesn't matter who anyone else uses. Pick up a phone book and make some calls. That's the only way to shop for Insurance.

You can't shop here!!

I use www.progressive.com... I have found that they have the best rates that I have come across so far.
Signed up my FD when I was 19 (20 now) and have full coverage, but its listed as weekend car (daily driver = 96 subaru impreza station wagon).

Good luck!
Dan

BTW i had problems getting this insured with my previous (citizens) insurance company also

I bet you don't. I pay 519.00 per year with 500,000 liability, 250/500 deductibles, and misc. other coverages.

That amount may be close, however, I carry a 100/100 deductable. I really don't feel like looking at the moment though.

Thanks all. So far Progressive seems to have the best rate. Still looking around though. My friend with a 240 got in a wreck with someone who had Progressive insurance though and got royally screwed over. His car was easily worth $15,000 but Progressive would only pay him $2,000 for the car (it was totalled). He said when he tried to fix it Progressive would only let the body shop buy used parts.

Clockwork, have you ever had an accident, if so how did Progressive treat you? Anyone ever been in an accident with the other person having Progressive? How was that?

My car had an engine fire 2 weeks after I signed on with Geico; I had only made one payment! Total bill was just under $5000 parts and labor and they were excellent to deal with. Had the adjustor out and a check in my hand only a day after I called them.

The people in the office near me at least were top notch: always had the right answer and always called ME, I didn't have to call them.

Progressive is one of the worst at paying out a claim. As I've personally discovered over the past three weeks, Allstate is pretty damn poor as well.

From a local high-end body shop, I've heard 21st Century and Mercury seem to pay out a claim with the least hassle.

Do as Adamc suggested and call around.

State Farm. Have gotten over 20 thousand dollars from them for my 2 stolen cars.

Very expensive but very very worth it.
