Question Insulation (under carpet) removal

So I am having to sell my interior to pay for my engine swap. I have the car gutted except for the dash... anyway i started cleaning ang came across the insulation/heat and noise canceling crap thats glued to the car... I was wondering if any of you have bothered removing it... And what would be the best way... my plans are to put down some por 15 or some other kind of noise, heat kepper outter

por15 will disintegrate on contact with sunlight. I would not use it in order to do the inside of a cabin

Matt...check the interior/exterior thread and read about Quiet Coat (may be spelled differently). This is what you are looking for.

Also...if you are removing your carpet, do it right (if you are not already) and don't cut it. Pull the dash, the heater core, etc.

Good luck!

Thanks guys... And yes I took the carpet out
properly. Haha I removed the dash and heater core, etc. I am going to
be driving the car with no carpet for awhile... Should
I consider using more if a rubber paint on flooring( like a truck liner) instead of quietcoat. Or will quietecoat hold up with the extra wear and tear. I don't necessarily
need the quiet... I will not mind the extra noise. I just want something down by my feet besides the bare metal

If you don't care about noise then I would use truck bed liner over quiet coat, it will be more durable.

Definitely pull the carpet the right way, and when you have the funds for a new carpet install in the right way.

I also used quiet car. Which is what it is called now. It is a good product. I did 4 layers on the entire floor pan after removing my carpet.

While quiet car is not as durable as a bed liner it is pretty good once it adheres to the metal. Make sure you have a grease/dirt free surface though before application. Also to remove the rubber stuck to the floor get a can of air used for dusting computers. Turn it upside down and spray. The refrigerant will freeze the rubber and you can chip it off very easily. I used a putty knife. Be careful to not spray yourself though it can cause frost bite.

be careful with the insulation removal because it's pretty hot under there. I remember Tsuchiya burning his shoes while driving a tuned FD with all the insulation removed. ;-)
