Installing a manual tranny?

Well, I am about to drop my engine in, and I did a manual swap on the car and I am trying to bolt the pressure plate to the flywheel. my question is, what size and tread are the bolts that go into the flywheel, I tried some I had laying around and they start but are clearly not the right thread. Please let me know, and no I couldnt have saved them, I had and auto before. Thanks

I would not use anything but OEM bolts for that.

Well...they really don't torque all that tight. I just check the FSM and it said 14 to 19 ft./lbs. One would think a good grade 8 bolt would be perfectly fine, wouldn't it?

Grade 8 is only a designation for imperial fasteners.

In metric you want Class 10.9. My bigger concern would be if I don't know the exact length of bolt, that there would not be enough thread engagement or too much and the bolt bottoms out without clamping down.

Ordering them from your local mazda is probably the easiest way.

M8x1.0, 16mm long if I remember correctly. Make sure to get 8.8 or 10.9 (preferably 10.9) grade bolts or you'll be pulling that tranny back off before you know it.
