Installing engine & mating the transmission
I'm ready to install my engine back to the car.
The last time, I had a problem unhooking the clutch throw out bearing & separating the bellhousing...until someone gave me a tip on how to do it.
Now, I'm ready to mate the engine to the transmission. Can someone give me a tip how to insert the input shaft to the clutch disk?
Is this also a pain to do?
The clutch is aligned (using clutch aligner) & the throw out bearing is in.
I searched the thread and went as much as 10 pages and I didn't come across on this installation procedure.
thank you

Rotary Freak
Put gear box in gear apply hand brake slide engine so input sharft is against clutch plate and with a socket and rachet rotate engine and input sharft will align with splines and slip together

Not clear if you're doing this in or out of the car, but obviously be conscious of the angle of the input shaft going into the clutch assembly/pilot hole. Seems like mine always slide in within a 1/8" - 1/4" of mating up flush. And I take that up with bell housing bolts.

The engine is in the engine hoist - the transmission in the car.
Well, I'm talking about the clutch bearing from the input shaft.
Is there a trick when I push the engine to the shaft ?
or just push the shaft with throw out bearing in it and it will mate to the clutch ring automatically (the ring behind the clutch pressure plate spring)?
somehow there should be a ring inside the pressure plate to hold the throw out bearing when i insert it?

You should have the wedge collar (ring) already installed before you mate the engine to the transmission. Once you mate the engine to the transmission, you just basically "pop" the throw-out bearing into the place and it will seat into the wedge collar. Make sure your wedge collar has not been damaged. Anything that has bent any teeth on the wedge collar will weaken the hold it has on the throw-out bearing.

I've used a bent wire hanger or a cord that I can slip easily through the slave hole and over the clutch fork arm. Once I'm satisfied that the transmission and engine are mated completely, I'll use either to pull out sharply on the arm to snap the wedge-collar into place. You can then check through the inspection hole to make sure it's seated completely and is flush. A little grease on the input shaft, the tips of the forks and a daub of grease in the divot/pivot on the arm before installing.
