Driver's side window sticking

Hi All,

I've been having an issue for a while with my driver's side power window. The switch and motor are working. The problem I'm having is the window itself seems to be getting bound when it's trying to go up. The back portion of the window gets stuck to the point that I have to physically grab it, straighten it out and then continue with the power up process.

I had the door apart for something else and figured I'd see that the bolts holding the window to the mechanism were loose - or one was loose. This was not the case - they were very tight. I couldn't see anything it was getting caught on or what else may have come loose.

I did a search and couldn't see anything exactly on this point. Any thoughts - or links to appropriate threads - appreciated.

I had the same problem years ago. The channel was a bit gummed up and sticking to the window as it went up/down. I smoothed the channel out and hit the inside groove with a bit of WD40 (all this without removing anything). I have not had the problem since and it has been several years. I had to do the passenger window a couple years after the driver window. Hope this is your issue as well.

Thanks for the response! I will take a look at this - and when you say channel are you referring to the vertical track that the mechanism runs up and down or the horizontal seal along the top of the door that the window runs through? I assume it is the first. Also:

Could you give me a little more specifics on the smoothing process?

Thanks!

Shoot some silicone spray down the front and rear channels for the window put it up and down a few times and you should be good for a few years.
