Installing Autometer Boost Gauge

Used search and come up short. I'm about to install my column mount Autometer boost gauge in my 1993. I've done a bit of reading and most said the supplied hose is not long enough to reach the nipple on the manifold and it is also to small to fit over the nipple. What I've found is 5/32" vac hose is what you need to attach to the nipple. What fitting do I use to go from the supplied hose (I think it is 1/4" Nylon(please correct me if I'm wrong)) to the 5/32" vac hose. I'm looking at summit racing and the fittings say things like -4AN to1/4", what is AN?? I will be running the hose down the steering column and out the steering column gasket. What fitting should I be looking for? Thanks!

P.S. the information I got was from www.scuderiaciriani.com

I bought my gauge and mount from pettit and it came with everything attached...the vacuum line was a clear plastic material...I figure you can use silicone vac hose if you make sure not to get it kinked (bent) on it's way to the UIM nipple. pettit supplied a rubber adapter that slipped over the nipple on the UIM and then the other end of the adapter had a hole slightly smaller than the plastic hose...as long as you can get the hose from the gauge to the nipple without any kinks and without any leaks you should be fine...

I really don't know if I helped or not...but either way, good luck dude!

Autozone had a few fittings that I used when T'ing into vacuum hoses. You might want to check your local auto parts store (or hardware store) and see if they have something that'll work. Things make more sense when you are looking at parts and not just part numbers. Good luck.
