inline fuel filters and flow

I bought a Fore Innovations fuel filter (8AN,F-10 Inline Modular Fuel Filter) to put it behind the UIM, but with the fittings it's too long so I'm switching to mounting two smaller filters (6AN) and plan to mount them, pressure sensors and check valves to the rear subframe.

I'm looking at these two filters (with an open mind to other options, but I need to get them ASAP so I can get the car back on the road)...

RobbMc Performance Products - Fuel Filters

I know the sizes on each of the filter bodies but I only know the flow for the RobbMc filter. I'm going for 10 micron and as small as possible while having enough LPH/GPH flow. I'm leaning toward getting the RobbMc PN 1073 large filter. But has anyone ever used that type of filter before and is it reliable, etc? I don't think I've seen that type of filter outside of using one for my water injection. And does anyone have any other input on things I should be considering?

What is your current fuel type and power output? I use those xrp style filters all the time with no issues. I've made a ton of power through them too. That style is not too restrictive. I cant say much about the Robbmac, for I have not tested any of them. But, they do "look" more restrictive.

Any particular reason you dont want to mount it in the factory fuel filter position?

All things equal, a larger filter will allow a longer service life. More surface area means it will take more gunk to have a significant effect on its flow. If I had a tiny little filter, I would feel like I need to always crack it open and check on it.

I'm planning on sticking with pump gas, but I *might* do flex fuel in the future. Power output is zero at the moment because I'm rebuilding my engine lol. It'll probably be around 400 when all is said and done. But as always, I'm trying to overbuild for reliability and so I can more easily up the power in the future if I choose to.

Dammit. I bought two of the RobbMc filters last night lol. The site says they'll flow 200 GPH though and one Stealth 340 puts out 90 GPH, so hopefully I'll be alright. I know what you mean though, it looks restrictive as hell. But that's why I got it, because I didn't have any numbers for the XRP filters but had them for the RobbMc.

You mean above the diff, where NO ONE wants a fuel filter? LOL I moved the stock filter to the subframe before already.

I'm running fuel through two stock -6 size lines to the front, and I'm putting pressure sensors and check valves in the lines in the back of the car, so I can't run them into a larger filter unless it's in the engine bay and I don't have room for that, thus why I'm scrapping using the Fore Innovations filter (it's an awesome filter with a 10 micron stainless steel element, it's just too big for what I'm trying to do).

Mine is mounted under the car, in front of the rear wheel where there is an indention. Good bit of room there.

Running a -6an fragola 40 micron fuel filter under the UIM. Going to look into these other brands now though.

OK I can understand where you are coming from. I personally do not mind the stock location much. I feel like its out of the way and doesn't need to be serviced often enough to be troublesome where it is. But I can see how it doesn't work for your plumbing needs.

Ok I'll look into that. Are you talking about at the base of the wheel well in front of the driver's rear wheel?

I preferred getting an element that I could take out and clean instead of having to buy a new one, which is why I got the Fore Innovations filter with the stainless element. I think there are at least a few more options with a 40 micron filter, but I wanted 10 micron. Have you ever had issues with yours?

Ok gotcha. I think you're the only person I've ever come across that didn't mind the stock location, other than people that have never changed their filter lol. I'm 6'3" with pretty large hands so it's a hassle for me, but I've done it on my car and a friend's.

I got the filters and other parts in yesterday, so I installed them last night. I was hoping the fittings would go into the filter farther to shorten the whole setup as much as possible. Oh well.

I've never even seen a 7 micron filter lol. I didn't even know those existed.

I doubt it. I really want to, but I'm super busy with work the rest of this month. Working two or three weeks straight. I'm about to have the car up and running too, which really gets me. I'm sure I'll never hear the end of it from Jose lol.
