I am just curious what everyone is confortable with as far as Injectory Duty %. What is the general concensus as far as what's the safe amount to run? What are you guys running personally for % ?

80-90% is fine in my book. Hell ive run cars with injectors static (for reaserch purposes) I would say anything above 90% is eating into the safty zone.

The thing you have to worry about is overheating the injector, and maxing at 90% for a little while at a time isnt going to hurt.

I thought the effective controllable range was right around 80%

I max mine out all the time. I would not recommend my set up. But It's been that way for close to a year and she hasnt blown yet. I h ope to upgrade my fuel situation soon. 90% is safe as you need to be IMO

From what I have known that is generally a problem with DSM's. I've never seen or heard of anyone overheating and sticking the injector in a FD. At least not yet.

From my understanding anything over 80% is already pushing it, and over 90% and its getting dangerous. Yet when you think about it how long are you up over 90%? If your doing 1/4 Mile not very long, now if your on the track thats a different story. I think it depends what/where your using your car.

An excerpt from the following web site:

http://www.supras.com/~riemer/sonict...rs/RCtech.html Injector Upgrade

The last test that we run is the Tell All Test. We run each unit up in duty cycle, at 12,000 RPM, until it fails electronically. (Seen on the oscilloscope) This is prominently displayed with the laser and strobe. Most pintle type injectors fail at 86%/88% and the Disc will usually go to 92% +, depending on system pressure.

But how long were they held at that duty cycle? Ive run upper 80% duty cycles every day for years without any problems.

I'm not certain, you would have to read the link to see the details of the testing, although it may not contain that info.

I am merely posting the info for our viewing pleasure...the excerpt in no way reflects the opinion of Books

Well, here's my point of view on duty cycles:

If I remember right, when Steve Kan tuned my car he said if I wanted to go any higher on the boost, or bolt up anything else, I'd need bigger injectors because mine were running at just about 92% at redline. So I'd guess Steve's comfort range is right around there.

My comfort range is whatever Dr. Genghis tells me

For drag racing, the turbo Buick guys run static and raise the fuel pressure and boost to adjust for egt. Of course this is for 1/4 mile only. No one would run that way on the street, would they now?

actually alot of domestic guys use fuel pressure alone to compensate for boost. Hell the procharger kits dont come with anything electronic, they just use an upgraded fuel pump and regulater to account for the extra fuel... (super ghey if you ask me)

buick grand nationals are carburated.

That's because pretty much all of them use a MAF sensor instead of a MAP sensor.

yeah but the MAF sensor is still trying to compensate only to a stoichmetric level which is too lean for a forced induction setup. They then use the fuel pressure to get it richer. Im not arguing that it dosent work, cause it obviously does. But there are much better (more expensive) ways to go about this.

Sorta makes you wish our cars were MAF instead of MAP, honestly I wish we had both. LoL is that possible. Cause I know MAP is to perfect tuning but MAF makes it soooo easy to mod your car.

I had figured the general conensus would be in the 80-90% region. Interesting to see a few votes for 90%+. Wonder who the brave people are

Last week I hit 87% at 12psi. I guess no 14psi for me until I get some bigger injectors in there.

you don't want a MAF

even with MAP fd guys have a hard time with their idle.

I was just amazed at how the MAP and ISC worked so well compared to the older FC technology.

i think

80 is safe

85 is comfortable

90 is getting there

95 something should be done.

94% is where i peak out, even though I regularly enter the fuel cells that should open them up to 100%. I probably have some buffer protection tuned in. And hell, that's at about 7000 RPM at 11lbs of boost. I guess fuel is my next mod.
