Information poll on water temps
After researching and looking at quite a few threads dealing with water temperature, it seems that most people have a working range from 185F(85c)-200F(93.3c) depending on driving (ambient) condition.
After a couple of different coolant related mods, here's what I got:
Ambient temperature: 65F
Stop and go traffic: 175F
Highway speeds < 90mph: 178F
Highway speeds > 90mph: 176F
Repeated hard acceleration: 178F
These temperatures are recorded with the 6psi Evans NPG+ waterless coolant system.
Can everyone post their water temps and operating conditions (if you have a gauge or PFC, etc.) for comparison purposes. Thanks

Here's the link with information on the NPG.
The only draw back is the price on this stuff, it's almost 20 bucks a gallon (you'll need 4).

There are only two guys that keeps an eye on their water temps? Wouldn't it be better to know your normal operating conditions rather than noticing it after you have problems?

I have Blitz Temperature Gauge and Boost Gauge, plus the PFC. Both meters show different values from the Power FC. I'm thinking the Power FC is off because on my first FD, I had a electronic boost gauge and Power FC and there was a .1 bar difference at all times.
Having said that, on my 1st and my 3rd FD, the PFC indicated 89C the majority of the time. The Blitz Gauge will indicate around 80C.

Ditto... What temp do you run at without the fans?
I thought most people that did the fan mod run at 185 to 190 range? Slightly higher in stop and go.

Shinobi, do you keep your fans on on freeway driving as well. I just turn mine on as soon as I get off the freeway. I read somewhere awhile ago that usually speeds above 30-40mph and you should leave the fans off?
I don't have a temp gauge yet, btw.

I've never heard that rule before, but anytime I get on the throttle, I keep the fans on, so yeah, for the most part I keep them on when I get on the highway. I've actually been as low as 150F though when it was cold out, so I usually turn them off if the temp. gets that low. In general, I try to keep the car as close as possible to 180F. Oh, and GET A TEMP GUAUGE as soon as possible. It saved my car once, and it's HIGHLY recommended...that and a boost guage if you don't have one.

180-195 F
I put the 90C fan switch on the thermostat housing so it turns fan on low when ever it reach 90c.it just like automatic fan mode.I know you guys with PFC can turn the fan any temp.but I still using EFI PMS
DP,intake,street ported motor.

I'm a CF and poop smith
180 F. all the time except when i go up hill (30-35degree incline) on full boost for about 5 mins, then it gets up to 200 F. but after i slow down, it drops back to 180 F. in about 20 secs

Mine goes between ~180F on highway cruise to ~210F on stop and go traffic with driving lights on. Without the driving lights on the fan won't kick in until ~230, where the OEM temp gauge needle starts going north.
I have the following:
Fluidyne radiator
CWR dual oil coolers
Vented hood.

mine will run 83-85c on the freeway, if its hot outside around town it will creep into the lower 90's c. if i beat on it the temps will get up to the upper 90's c. the only mod is a mazdacomp radiator and 70/30 water coolant mix

what temps should you start becoming alert too?...like i have seen a little over 100C once when I was hardly moving in traffic. When should i become concerned? The temp always goes back down to my norm of about 80C once I started moving again. Thanks.

I think the fans come on around 220f and go to medium at 225f but not for sure. Basically don't want to see temps at or above 235 for long During the summer at the track I run 102c and cooler months 93c. 100c and your fans won't even come on so thats nothing to worry about.

I finally got my water and oil temp gauges (Defi link series -- full post w/pics coming) installed over X-mas.
I have a downpipe, cat-back, and completely stock 65k cooling system with 50/50 (too much coolant, I know).
With ambient temps in the low 60s, I am getting:
stop and go traffic: 210 F
normal city driving (35-45 mph): 190 F
highway: 175-180 F
The temps will rise quickly when going full boost but drop back down again very quickly. BTW, turning on the A/C to setting 3 while driving around town quickly drops temps to 190 or less. At idling, A/C will lower temps to below 180.
My oil temps vary much more, anywhere from 160 to 220 F, and don't seem to always correlate with the water temps.
