It's simply that - logging data . People with PowerFC's use the Datalogit box, which plugs into the PowerFC and records all the information from the sensors the PFC sees. You can make a full throttle run, then examine the log. You can then see lots of information - like if you were running rich or lean at a particular RPM or boost, if you had knock, what timing you were running, etc.

When you're tuning a car in, it's impossible to watch all your gauges at one time to figure out where you need to make adjustments in your fuel or ignition map. Think of it as videotaping all the gauges, then you can play it back one frame at a time.

Most aftermarket ECU's support datalogging. The stock ECU does, but no one has ever cracked the datalogging feature. You'd need a special and VERY expensive tool to do it.

Where can you get a datalogit box and are there many kinds? I dont plan on tuning my car myself but Im very intrested in learning how to watch the parameters so i can at least know what the engine is doing and maybe prevent some damage by seeing it in advance.It's just how I learn things so maybe in the long run I can gain knowledge in tuning but of course that will take time,money, mistakes,risk you need to take...

I´m planning to go for the Zeitronix datalogger that you connect to a pc. It have an afr and alot of inputs so I don´t need so many gauges.

Most wideband setups have datalogging capabilities, but the best setup is to use the FC-Datalogit box in conjunction with the Apexi PFC.

PFC = plug and play

haltech = you wire it up to the sensors make a harness and play.

there are other pros cons to each of the models, but for most of us that is the biggest difference
