Hey guys, I recently got some new goodies and I think I'm almost ready to go single

somewhat, I have a fresh motor that's getting streetported, Im not sure If I want to spill the beans on what custom turbo(s) setup I have but I will let someone guess

4.1600cc sec injectors
5.Radiator
5. Water Injection

Now my question is what type of fuel rail should I run? does it even matter? and lastly I know I need a good fuel pump any good suggestions? My hp goals are 350-400 at the most, If I missed anything you guys think I will need, please let me know!

 

what you'll find is that the answers to those questions a largely a matter of preference. Any specific answers you'll get around here will either be from people who are a) trying to sell you something or b)trying to justify what they have already bought for themselves.

Any rail setup will work, i run the KG parts rails on mine. I tried to buy the CJ motorsports rails but no one would pick up the phone or return my calls. I have personally had a couple of bad experiences with walbro pumps so i never suggest them to anyone. Currently I have a bosch 044 in my tank, but any denso style upgrade pump should be sufficient for your goals.

 

look for fuel rails that are for the 13B check RX7store.net or other sites. i also recommend a a decent pump something along the lines of a supra pump or a bosh. if you want max fuel to be pumped i would go with the bosh 044, which is very large and will take care of all your fuel needs.

 

honestly, there's not really a BAD fuel rail on the market. I would say the CJ is probably the easiest to install with the LIM still in the car just based on looks. I have an older rotary works rail that is basically the rx7store/KG rail.

oh, and I will be running twin walbro pumps for e85, might upgrade at a later point to twin supras or something similar. the bosch and denso (supra) pumps are both great pumps and have a good reputation around here. The rotary performance (rx7.com) competition pump is a modified bosch pump IIRC and flows even more, but might be overkill unless you're shooting for 600 on pump gas.

 

^^The rx7.com/RP Competition pump is a modified nippondenso unit and is supposed to be adequate for around 500 hp at the flywheel, or ~425 at the back wheels. 600 on pump gas? a Typo I presume

 

Unless he was talking about the apexi BNR pump they used to sell as "their" pump... But those are no longer available any more.

i like the KG or CJ rails, but thats subjective since any aftermarket rail will do..... you can have your own made for dirt cheap, just drill holes for injectors and tap the ends for fuel line connections.

if you want bling..... Sard makes BEAUTIFUL rails, and their cost is reflective of it, very pricey.


as for pump...... stock Supra pump with rewire mod is good for 500ish hp at the wheels... plenty of budget MKIV guys run stock fuel system/pump rewired on a 62 or 67mm making those numbers but i believe their IDC is close to 90% on the stockers IIRC.

Bosch 044 is a GREAT pump. flows enough for 600ish hp and price is attractive.


I'd rather have an overkill fuel system, than one thats "just enough"

 

Maybe I'm just confused here guys and perhaps you can straighten this out if I'm wrong. I know their sight says good for 500 flywheel hp, but isn't that roughly what a walbro pump is good for? A ND/supra pump can clearly flow more than a walbro, and I would certainly hope that the RP comp pump, being modified and all, would be able to flow even more still.

They are just the same old extrusion as anyone else! To each their own I suppose. Their price isnt too bad actually since its roughly the same as ours, and they include the blockoff plates. But the billet rails are much more time consuming to machine, which is where our higher price comes in.
