Unhappy infant seating?

If i want to bring my infant around with me, is it possible to have my baby in the front seat? I have a 93 VR base and there is no airbag on the passenger side.

did search, couldn't find much
sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum, but i wanted a specific answer from any of the parents with this same car.

my wife is due in about 4 months.

thanks
-chris

Yep! I drove my daugther around in my FD ever since she was an infant. Rear facing car seat in the pass side fits fine. This is the reason the pass side belt is different than the drivers side belt.

Now she is almost 3yrs old, she loves riding in the "race car".

thanks for replying jeff. the answer is greatly appreciated. Furthermore, aren't there special rear-facing seats? did you have trouble installing one in the 7's seat?

edit: oops, nevermind.

Personnaly, I never though a FD was ever built to support a baby.

BTW: I hope your not doing any kind racing or exceeding the speed with your child in the car...

All, do remember that 94's and 95's with rear facing seats is a BAD BAD idea. Don't do it. Enough children have been hurt or killed by airbags + rear facing child seats for manufacturers to be forced to put warnings on all new cars.

93's are exempt only because the didn't have passenger airbags.

Um, yeah, you guys are really very foolish if your carrying kids around in 94+ models.
I remember a few months back, some kid got DECAPITATED by the airbag. yes you read right, and no its not some BS story.

1994 RX-7 Owner Manual, Page 2-20...

Warning "Child Restraint Positioning:" Child Restraints that face the rear are unsafe in your vehicle. The restraint can be hit by a deploying airbag, moved out of position, and result in your child being seriously injured. Don't use child restraints which face the rear.

I don't permit any children young enough to slide under the shoulder strap to ride in the car. Even my GF - who is small - has a hard time using the shoulder belts properly.

your 94 manual doesn't exactly refer to my vehicle, as it is a 93. the 93, to my knowledge didn't come standard with a passenger side airbag....at least mine doesn't!

Yes, as stated by SanJoRX7 up above, the 93's do not have passenger side air bags. Only 94's and up.

5' - 0"

And she has occasionally slid around in the seat during spirited driving.

I hope you guys weren't referring to me about the street racing crap with kids in the car.

My daughter refers to my car as the "race car" not because I take her to the local street races but because I autocross it and she comes with my wife and watches.

Chill out people, gawd.

Jeff
