I was thinking of purchasing my first FD, but if there is no paperwork to show that the motor was rebuilt, is there anything i can check that would indicate this? Sorry if this is a shot in the dark, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Look at the color of the silicone around the oil pan, between the irons, and around the front -eshaft bolt. Original motors had grayish silicone (tends to yellow) while remans have a pale orange silicone. If it was rebuilt by some independent shop then all bets are off.
Don't worry about that. Just get a compression test done. The motor being rebuilt doesn't mean that it's good. A compression test will tell you the health of the motor.
