Can Altitude do this?

I went up Angeles Crest today (A mountain canyon) and immedietly noticed my boost was very strange BEFORE I STARTED THE CLIMB. First it spools very slow and second my boost is flunctuating, meaning its moving from 13-10psi back and forth. You can even hear it. Sometimes it even feels like the secondaries arnt even kicking in also. This problem consisted all the way to the top where we rested for 30 min and came down. My car was def very slow.

This and my over-heating problem killed my uphill climb. But the way down I neutraled it down and when I got to the buttom my boost was acting normal again. I dont know if its because the car was running cooler or if the problem is a come and go type problem, but Im left confused.

What do you guys think is the deal? Should I do a full vaccum hose check or do you guys think its an elevation issue?

Thanks A lot,
Armen

id probably drive it some more and see if the problem continues, if not then you should be fine, hopefully it's not still overheating

honestly, most likely it was a glitch in the car considering you know how these cars are, one moment fine then something weird but it could also be.....

the altitude. altitude will affect this car because it uses a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) system and not a MAF (mass air flow) system. a MAF system will be able to adjust the fuel for the lack of O2 at higher altitudes. on a MAP system you will notice an adverse power effect because of the difference in pressure due to the higher altitude.

It's possible you need a new set of check valves. Esp if sometimes the secondary isn't coming online. Before driving the car anymore I would work out that overheating problem you are having, you seem to act like it's not a big deal, but if you overheat it just 1 time you're risking your entire motor.

Ill check the valves out. I already posted something about the overheating. ITs not really overheating its just my car was running hotter than what I wanted (104c) in cool tempertures which pissed me off considering all the cooling mods i have.

Trust me if my car was really overheating I wouldnt do a canyon run.

I was actually thinking check valves also because if im at higher altitude, shouldnt there be more pressure on the check valves? Thus causing them to not work properly under such pressure? I actually bought a pressure relief valve to help this out a while ago but never installed it.
