Does anyone know what the stipulations are for bringing back a car for "race only"? The only thing I can find on it mention "temporary" use in shows or competition events.

I'm in Europe and I want to bring back an Integrale for dragging...I don't care if it's a trailer queen...those car run 10s with stage one kits!!! 9s with a stage three.

Oh, by the way...listen to jspecracer7...I'm in the Air Force and they WILL NOT ship anthing other than U.S. spec vehicles. Unless you pay all of the tarriffs and conversion costs mentioned by Akagi_Red_Sun PRIOR to their shipping it.

ianewk.

In order to import you car for "racing purposes only", you must have the car entered under a TIB.

TIB = Temporary Import Under Bond under HTS 9813.00.35

There are bond requirements. Here is the direct Customs link. http://www.customs.gov/impoexpo/tib.htm#top

You WILL need a Customs broker to assist with a Bond Company and Customs clearance. By using a broker, they will keep your entry open until you are ready to export. There are time constraints on how long you can keep your car in the country. Remember, your car cannot be driven on the street.

I used to import cars for the sanctioned classic race cars in Montery....oh....that was fun.

Good luck

Imported cars that needs to be modified is a total nightmare. It will take you an average of of about 6months to get your car certifed to drive. I heard stories of some that took over a year...and others...still haven't finished.

If you are going to do it, I would recommend you speak to a professional that handles these types of imports. By knowing what it take ahead of time will save you time and money.....

jmseven,

Thanks for the info...it's pretty much what I've already read. I'd already looked into bringing back a 911 and a Land Rover Defender 90...they both can be converted...at a price.

The Lancia Delta Integrale however, cannot. That's why I was interested in trailering it to the events. I know it wouldn't be able to be driven on the street. Seeing however that it can only be there on a temporary basis...it just isn't worth it.

Pipe dreams are fun to chase every once in a while. Thanks again.
