importance of oil press vs oil temp gauge?

im looking to pic up another gauge and thinking about one for oil.. is there a point in getting both? whats more important? im just trying to get abetter understand for the purpose of each...

actually i dont think i understand more than higher oil temps means... hotter engine? what are the actual side effects of high oil temps?

and what does it mean if theres too much oil press or not enough?
not enough= not enough engine lubrication?
please excuse my noobness

Hey man!

Of the 2 gauges, I would have to guess pressure is more important. If your needle isn't moving with the tach, then you shut down the car and have it towed. You do have that stock one but it is really inaccurate but then again, how accurate does it have to be if you are just checking if the needle moves?

If you see your oil is hot then so what? I know people always say oil temp is important but I never fully understood why. If your water temps are in check, then thats all that is important right? Can someone explain?

From my limited understanding, oil is used for lubrication and to cool the engine as well.

Both are equally important however to solve your dilema...replace the stock sending unit for the stock pressure gauge and then go ahead and buy a oil temp gauge if you want. There's no reason to just give up on the stock pressure gauge.....things get old and wear out, replace and enjoy.
