Large rear headlight/windshield/hatch sprayer reservoir

I have been looking for one of these puppies for almost a year (mainly for an AI and intercooler sprayer project). Finally found one (from Australia) and thought that some my be interested.

They were stock on European, Canadian, Australian and some JDM FDs and have a total of four pumps (two large ones for the headlight sprayers), one medium one for the front windshield, and a small one for the rear hatch). Cars with one of these would not need the front windshield reservoir.

Capacity is 6 litres (1.58 US gallons), which is pretty good for AI.

It goes in the rear, just like the U.S. except it goes all the way across the rear. Last I looked they were like $600-$700! Hope you got a good deal on it.

I got it for $400 shipped from Australia. Not exactly a deal, but I have a fetish for OEM-style installs. I could probably have bought it for less than half that initially because the seller was just trying to get rid of it - but someone blabbed and told him that they were desirable for AI installs.

The stock USDM car actually has mounting tabs pre-tapped for this unit. I have not installed it yet because my AI pump is currently in they way. Here is a picture of the USDM rear hatch reservoir. This new reservoir goes all the way across.

Part number is FD07-51-810. I'm told they can be bought from Mazda Motorsports for $500 or so, though I have no first hand knowledge here.

I have been asked for this part before but havent had much luck finding it. That was a couple of months ago and I have made some new contacts for parts, so I am going to see what I can do on these. Certainly would be less then $400, somewhere between $275 to $340 depending on your relationship with Rx7 Boutique and more importantly my cost.

The question is how common these were on JDM FDs. I have seen these come so rarely (actually, just once) that I think it may have been a fairly rare option.

Going to contact someone in Japan and Australia. Used to have someone in Canada but he is no longer in the business. Will update later this week.

If you believe the local Mazda spares here, as of a couple of weeks ago, they were obsolete and no longer available....like a fair few other things disappearing from the shelf for these cars. Good news was, they were substantially cheaper than the disc information I'd previously posted!

As they sold in tiny numbers in Oz, don't like the prospects of coming across them 2nd hand either.
