Christianity and Catholocism (yes not the same thing) also pay healthy homage to codependent behaviour as well.
I don't think Jeff ever was coming across as saying he didn't want to provide if he never received in return - but more so that it becomes tedious and unrewarding to provide and NEVER receive appreciation.

re·ward·ing ( P ) Pronunciation Key (r-wôrdng)
adj.

2. Affording profit; remunerative: a rewarding business venture.
3. Constituting a reward: a rewarding hug.
If you ever look to receive them, then it doesn't bother you not getting them.

There is a difference between an expectation following every instance and an expectation arising out of or facillitated by consistent behaviour over time.
They are not the same - nor is it black and white like offering with zero expecation vs offering with full expectation.

You may think this is some facade, but it's not. This is who I am, believe it or not.

Nope, you are confused Jeff.
Asking for thanks and saying thanks are two completely different things. Giving praise and receiving praise are different. You give because you want to, not just so you can receive. I guess that's just a little of the Christianity coming out of me as it's always better to give than receive. .........

You see, Mahjik was there when I posted my first "newb" question. He directed me then, as he always has, down the right path. I've seen him do this with most of the members time after time, after time. Not once has he used improper language, made arrogant remarks, or posted sarcastic, insipid replies. He defends his ground firmly, as he should, and does an outstanding job as a Moderator. I KNOW WE ALL AGREE.
He has never asked for, implied, or demanded, any thanks or aknowledgment for his assistance. Mahjik handels his position as a Moderator with a standard and professionalism that all forum members should practice.

When did this turn into a "we love Mahjik" thread. I mean I know we all do, but I thought this was a therapy session for turbojeff.
Either way I think it's nice that we can all sit around and talk about our feelings on a Friday night. Very uncharacteristic of rx7club (Said with LOTS of sarcasm)

Hey, this IS a therapy session for me!
Most of you guys don't really know me, I'm 35, I've got a 4yr old daughter and a 1mo old. The newborn keeps a guy up at night. Most of the younger guys here will find it out later but there is a big difference between getting up at 3am for a booty call and getting up a 3am to change a diaper, LOL.
Maybe that is why I'm so grumpy lately, 4-6hr sleep night after night will do that to a guy.

i think this may have to do with the maturity of many "new owners" of rx7's ... since the price on FD's has dropped we are seeing some younger and possibly less mature owners on the forum. so please, if you claim to have the maturity to be able to own, understand, and maintain such a difficult car... please show your maturity on the forum, and in PM's to other members. im not claiming to be the most mature member on the forum (im only 22) but regardless of ones age please show some social grace. id like to see the forum get better not worse, because i do care about it, and it has helped me very much. -heath
*** PS i think we need some sort of subsection in the 3rd gen. section where we can post how-to stuff (you know all the common stuff, how-to pictorials, explanations) etc etc. the miata.net forum does this rather well (check it out if you dont know what im talking about -> http://miata.net/garage/ ). id be willing to contribute, and im sure many others would as well. a quick reference section would be good for everyone, and it would help keep the 3rd gen section free of the same old posts that everyone gets tired of. soooooooooo, anyone with me?? mods? how bout it? check out the miata.net link to see what i mean.... can we make something like that happen?? thanks . heres the link again http://miata.net/garage/

of course, the wife has the other half. I only have the one so I can't imagine dealing with two "yutes", but this one is more than I can handle on most days.
I know that when things are bothering me, the smile in that picture makes everything else seem trivial.
