Im at a loss, whats going on?
Guys I need help, when Im driving the car..maybe like 1 hour into driving it'll just shut down. I still have electrical power when that happens (ps, radio, gauges). It'll start right back up and run fine in less the 5 minutes, but obviously something is wrong. Here's some background info on whats been going on.
1. Flooded the car, towed it home, deflooded, new spark plugs.
2. Car wouldn't go past 6 psi, it was like hitting a wall, I could get up to speed fine as long as I didn't hit 6 psi, thought it was the hose popped off on the wastegate.
3. Driving, car just died, towed to mechanic, when I first brought it in he put on engine diagnosis and said car had no spark. Tested coils and had power, put car back together and fired up fine and had spark.
4. Noticed on alt. the plastic clip that feeds it power wasn't there, just the 2 wires taped on. Replaced plastic clip, soldered wires, 12.8v. Reinstalled ground wire on battery and now the car boosts fine with just spike. Checked ground wires, all 12.7-8v.

What am I missing? The engine was rebuilt by Malloy 06/07/05, I just bought the car maybe 2 1/2 weeks ago. My guess' are coils, ECU, other then that I have no clue whats causing this. Im gonna continue searching..but Im at a loss. I've spent about 500$ and have had no results..this is really starting to suck. Today I'm gonna buy a compression tester..

With the car running, how much voltage are you getting at the battery terminals?
Might be ignition related - coils heatsoak, fail, then work again after they cool. The harness to the coils is also a known failure part - that might be worth getting a new one regardless.
Might want to see if you can find a used set of coils cheap, or find another FD owner near you in a local forum.

Never seen it happen to an FD but on other cars this is a classis sign of the ignition module (ignitor in FD speak) going bad as GUITARJUNKIE28 said. The car runs perfectly fine until after sometime the ignition module gets too hot and then no spark. The car will abruptly quit and refuse to start until it cools off and then everything is perfect again.
I'd swap the ignitor first. I find it very hard to believe that ALL the coils choose the exact same moment to fail. If it were a heat problem with the coils the engine would miss and breakup before it finally died. The coils are fine. Either the ignitor is getting flaky and not firing them or there's possibly an issue with power to the coils.
