If your car is stock or near stock, NGK BUREQ7 Leading and BUREQ9 Trailing. You need two of each. Those with heavier mods go with 9's all around.

Leading plugs go in the lower position and trailing in the top. Trailing = Top... Leading = Lower.

The store may also try to sell you on more expensive platinum versions. Your call, but I don't think they'll last any longer.

Get some anti-seize too, and be sure to use a little on each plug thread, just be careful not to get it on the business end tip.

The FSM instructs you to change them from the top, but it's much easier from under the car. Do one plug at a time so you don't cross wires. Piece of cake.

Sgtblue always there to help out a noob.

Definately change them from under the car. It seems like it would almost be impossible from the top unless you have your A/C and PS deleted.

While I know the OP has taken care of it, this is for anyone who searches and finds this thread later:

you don't need to remove anything (throttlebody etc) to change your sparkplugs. its hard to do from the top, but possible with a key.

I've found a 3/8 stubby rachet + u-joint + spark plug socket makes the job super easy even on the top.

Would definitely be easier to do it at the bottom when the car is on a lift =). But sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do (the hard way, on the top =P)

My buddy changes his plugs like that... Honestly I was at a loss when he told me.

I have my AC and PS in the car and I've always changed my plugs from the top. All I do is remove the elbow (my stock one at the time and now my greddy) and go to work. Regular ratchet with two different extensions does the job just fine. It takes about 20 min from start to finish and thats including taking a couple of soda breaks.

Where do you guys get your plugs from?
Every other car's plugs have been at Canadian Tire... but they don't carry anything for the RX7 (no bur9eq or bur9eqp)

Potatoe...Potahtoe. Or maybe like Synthetic vs. Mineral. Remove the elbow or put the car up on stands or a ramp...whatever seems easiest/quickest. I should have qualified my suggestion to do it from below with a "IMO" I guess.

Is $14/plug a fairly normal price?

Seems like last time I bought plugs there were $6 or $7 ea. (U.S.) Platinum or Irridium tipped fancy-schmancy versions were more.

I bought the 9 plugs a couple weeks from advance auto parts.
I paid 4.99 each. A little more expensive online, not sure why

The reason I was at a loss was because when he told me I looked at my bay and to me it seemed more difficult. But I'm curious next time I change them I'm going to try it from the bottom.

I've done both and I find removing the elbow and changing from the top is easiest, hell you can do it in the parts-store parking lot if you want. ~5 bucks a piece is what I paid for em.

I called local prices and heard prices from $14 to $25 each for the non-plat versions, and no one has them in stock.
Where are you Canadian people getting them?

whoops, those 5 dollars prices are here in the states, and sgt blue isn't far from me, looks like you're the only person posting here from Canada. I would post here and ask your fellow canadians. https://www.rx7club.com/canadian-forum-42/
