The airpump connects to the main cat. Are you talking about removing the main cat?

If so, there is no place to connect the airpump on a midpipe or any use of doing so.

I will be getting my pettit ecu and apexi avc-r soon and i already have a sr midpipe and i was wondering the same thing. So if i put in the midpipe do i need to take out the airpump or can i leave it and just let it pump air into nothingness? I will have to put the main cat back on to pass smog every 2 years, so i can't just throw the airpump away.

You can keep it installed. There is a check valve in the pipe under the car (to prevent exhaust from going back up the pipe. Keep the check valve to keep garbage from going into the pipe. Disconnect the electrical connector on the air pump to disable it without removing it.
