Question Im 18 and really thinking of getting a FD, i need to know the pros and cons

Alright so i dont know much about the aspect of the rotary engine, but my friends are all about that and when i told them i was thinking of getting a 3ed gen, they just told me it wasnt worth it and that the engine would just crap out on me after a couple of years. So what do i need to know about the FD? IS it worth it? How can i make it last?
