Ignition Wont Turn

This may be the wrong section, so feel free to move it. For the past two days, I have been trying to turn my car on, but the key just wont turn. Any suggestions on what to do or what may be causing this. It is an automatic, and yes, it is in park ALL the way. I took it out of park and then put it back in using the override thing, and it still wont turn. I almost snapped my key trying to turn it on. Any suggestions?

I have just about had enough of the car.

sounds dumb, but are you sure you have the right key?

otherwise, is the key a copy? it's probably a long shot, but it's possible a copy could have been poorly made.

If it's a 7, especially a FB/FC then find someone else with one and see if their key works. Mine works on a lot of them, doors more than ignition though.

jiggle the key in the ignition and kinda rock it around inside a little bit... that should get it to work. one of the copies of my FC's key had this issue. just gotta shimmy it inside the ignition a little bit to get it to work.

It is an FD, and I have been using the same key for a year, since I bought the car. I tried shimmining it in, and still no luck. Ill try again, but any other suggestions?

Your steering wheel lock is caught at just the right angle. Pull on steering wheel in one direction and try turning the key and wiggling it. Then Pull on the other side of the wheel and do the same thing.

Thank you. That did it. Is it a common problem for cars to do this? Never heard of that happening before, but good to know. Thanks for all your help.

Yupp happens all the time. It's lot more fun when your wife calls you in a panic cause she cant get the car to start.

Well me not being able to get it to start yesterday meant I got to fill up our truck. This turned out to be a $70.23 learning experience which I would rather not repeat.
