Ignition choice for 500hp?
#27
Well I have a new mounting plate that actually relocates my coils to the frame rail. I have not yet put it in but it does have a second gen leading coil on it and I was going to stick with the stock trailing. If you telling me I can run that set up with the HKS twin power and as long as my coils are in good shape (second gen one is new) then I should be able to run my 500hp on that set up? I am pleased to hear this haha. Then I guess really I should look more into my fuel set up. I have a set of 1680CC injectors sitting at home but have yet to put them in as I do still need to pick up an FJO driver. about a year or two ago I replaced the stock fuel pump with the supra TT pump. My intentions are to run the 850cc primary and my 1680's as secondary. Is that pump and those injectors going to be a good set up for what I am looking to accomplish or should I look into different pump or injectors?

From what I've heard the Denso pump is a very good pump, if anything you could use that in-tank then run a Bosch 044 as an external, in-line, pump.
The 850/1600's should get you there, but it might not hurt to go with some EV14 based 1000/2000 injectors just to be safe.
Just my $.02

Excellent.
I know Brent from Wannaspeed was running the same setup with NGK Race 10.5's, 500cc of water, and made over 500whp with no break-up.
The key here is how much AI you want to run. You can LACE an engine with the mixture and tune for it as long as the ignition will ignite it. There is more of a grey area of how much water, meth or both you need to make power after the safety margin is passed. Some use more, some use a little less. I know Goodfella is making high 400's on 20psi with a mere 300cc of 50/50.

There's a good thread (I started it so I'm possibly biased ) on the 3rd Gen archives entitled 'Fuel System Ramblings' which has some good info on pump setups. You'll need another Supra pump to make two total, or look into something like a Bosch 044. You'll have enough injector with the 850/1680 anyway.

Have run up to 22 psi, over 500 rwhp, with 325cc of windshield wiper fluid.... that's around 85% water, 15% alcohol {QUOTE]
Thanks for the chime in. Curious to what brand you choose, or do you mix it up and just stay away from the deicer stuff?

^ I know the question was directed at Rich, but I use the cheapest stuff I can get. I use the cheap stuff because, IMHO the stuff has less additives than the more expensive stuff. All I want is water and meth, no need for all the other stuff that may be in the more expensive solutions. I get it at Walmart for less than 2.00 a gallon.

I have seen Goodfella state many times he has been running washer fluid for many years with no issues.
Thanks again.

Honestly, why not just pick up a drum of M1 methanol? Unless prices have skyrocketed it's only like $45 for a 5gal drum (iirc).
Cut that with distilled water (by mass) and you can have pure water and pure meth mixtures with absolutely no question of extra ingredients, addatives, or dyes. With street driving that one drum should easily last you a year.
