If you own a Autometer Air:Fuel Ratio Gauge
I was considering Autometer Air:Fuel Ratio Gauge, but all I hear is that they don't read at idle or at highway speeds only during WOT. Is that true for any of you that have installed one in your FD.
What are your experiences with the Autometer Air:Fuel Ratio Gauge?
Did you buy it because it was cheap?
Does it do the job as intended? or just does it show pretty changing LED.
I did a search and didn't find anyone that liked them.

It reads under all conditions; idle, WOT, etc. They're just not terribly accurate. The sensor will only be as accurate as your O2 sensor is. That said, I have a Sport Comp A/F gauge I'll sell you if you still want one.

Dont use stock O2 sensor to tune your car, it was never made to be used as such. If you want a light show, the autometer gauge is great.

I have had one for quite some time now, I actual just sold it to get their new carbon fiber one with matching boost gauge. I have to say at idle and cruising its not too useful but at WOT it reads pretty accurate I believe and that to me is the most useful time to have an accurate reading so for me until I get my PFC its worth it,

It offers a great light show as previously mentioned. The only thing it lets me know is when I am in either closed loop or open loop.
Sometimes I get confused as to why I am in open loop when cruising, and sometimes it is in closed loop. Other than that, it takes up one of the 3 spots in my 3 gauge DIN holder. The other two are more useful gauges, (water temp, and fuel pressure). If I ever get around to it, i will get rid of the a/f gauge, and replace it with an oil temp, or oil pressure gauge.

I have the CF Autometer and it jumps way up and way down @ idle and cruise speeds.. I think most people just want it under wot so they know that they are not leaning out..... Don't know how any other ones work...

I use mine just for WOT as well. I was not too sure how accurate they were for tuning, but I guess it's better than nothing. I know a lot of people got rid of the A/F gauge in favor of a EGT. I still can't seem to find out what kind of numbers I should look for on an EGT, as everyone's car is different. I guess I'll just have to use both...

Just get a ETG gauge,it will do a better job of what you're trying to do.
Also, you can fit 60mm gauges in that speaker pod as well.You just need to spend about 5 mins dremeling the holes out a little bit.
I'll talk to you about it at the meet if you want.

I have the guage and i'd say it's the best bang for the buck. I'm not exactly sure how accurate the unit is but it seems like its accurate enough. Theres times when nothing lights up during idle, and times where when you start your car it'll slowly go from lean to rich. On WOT, it shoots way up to rich in no time.

a/f ratio gauges only work at WOT, there are a couple of faqs out there about comparing EGT and A/F ratio gauges; i think they are at robrobinette and lighting in a world or thunder websites. check them out

I use my autometer air fuel gauge to help me tune the the car at light loads (cruising). It does an excellent job at this since this what the stock O2 sensor was designed for. If you don't have a programmable ecu then the air fuel gauge is pretty much useless.

It's cheap and it's cool to say look i have a A/F gauge!! Other than that in engrish it's "pretty and make flashy lights on long drive wow like christmas in car!"

Defi' has been ordered
Dual Speaker pod gauge housing
I have decided to go with a Defi' A/F and boost gauge to match. They will be housed in the new speaker pod housing I just received.
I hate the pillar mount. Looks high schoolish.
THis speaker location looks beter for me plus it looks factory if Mazda ever added more gauges to the retired 2002 FD.
