Idling to high PLEASE HELP

Ok im about to buy a 93 R1 and the guy says the only thing wrong with it is that it idles around 1.5k. The car is completely stock and he said it doesn't effect performance. Is it just a vacum line? or is it something thats gonna cost me a lot of money? I dont know a ton about rx7's and dont wanna buy one if im gonna have to sink a lot of money into fixing it as they are rotary engines and around where I live there's not a whole lot of places that will work on em. Its got about 63k miles on the body and 25k on the engine which was replaced by mazda under warranty. So what do you all think???

idle

HEy,
i have that exact same problem, i got the 3rd gen i have now and it was fine for the first month or so, and all of a sudden my idle jumped from about 900 to 1500, and thats where it stays now, some people told me it could be a vacuum leak, or like he already said the gasket, i haven;t had time to take apart my uim yeat and check for a vacuum leak, but i hope its nothing too serious, of course im not getting the right boost either, but other than that it runs great.

this guy said it still boost like normal... I dont believe he knows a ton about the mechanical part though either so he could be wrong. Another think can anyone tell me exactly what and where the LIM is so I can tell the guy if he doesn't know because I have no clue I've read you can just spray some carb cleaner on it and see if the idle goes down to determine if it is a blown LIM gasket. Does that work?

I suggest you read the newbie stickers and go the scuderia site (link is in the stickies) where it details out exactly what to look for in an RX7.

Considering you don't know anything about the RX7 and don't have a shop that does, I would say to stay away from any car that isn't running properly unless you are independently wealthy and can afford to spend multiple thousands of dollars fixing a potential piece of ****.

When the wax pellet went bad in my throttlebody (the thing that heats up from throttlebody coolant flow and lowers the idle) my car wouldnt idle. I just bypassed the coolant flow and safety wired the idle thing down to normal idle position, something you might check out. Theres a write up for it on that robinette site I think.
