Idle and Boost Problems

The PowerFC came tuned from SR Motorsports for 1300cc secondaries and 850 primaries. Well, since I don't have my 1300's yet I just looked at a base map and set the injectors back to stock settings.

Now my FD on the stock ECU had a freakish idle, ran at around 1200rpm and would actually go to 1000rpm or so under load. Now with the PFC installed it sits at 1600-1700rpm and 1900 with E/L!!!! Perhaps a vacuum leak somewhere? The idles are set fine on the PFC (760, 850 w/ EL).

Boost issue -- with the stock ECU I was hitting fuel cut so I slapped on a home depot boost controller until I got my PFC. Didn't work as planned....I was no longer hitting fuel cut, but I was only boosting 5-6 PSI!! I said screw it and just left it like that until I got my PFC, so today I pop off the boost controller reconnect the hose and guess what? STILL BOOSTING 5-6 PSI max!

Its a non sequential setup so if its a boost leak, there aren't *that* many places for it to leak...what'ya guys think?

Changing your secondaires will have no effect on your idle

If the secondaries were leaking it surely would have an affect on the idle.

I spray carb cleaner near the injectors and it bogs down quite a bit, it wont stall out but it will bog pretty hard. I am sure either my primaries or secondaries are leaking a little bit. I just wouldn't think it would make the idle go so high? I adjusted the air bleed screw to lower it as much as possible it dropped 200 rpm and the screw won't go any more.

Did you do the Power FC learn idle procedure?

Idle the car for 10 minutes with no accessories on.
Idle the car for another 10 minutes with the rear defroster on.
Idle the car for another 10 minutes with the a/c on.

It will still be a little funky for a few days especially once you turn the lights on, but it will even out.

I'll give this all a whirl, and see how the outcome is. Since I had a funky idle with the stock ECU. I figured the PowerFC wouldn't be much better, but I surely didn't expect it to be worse! So it's got'a be something with the calibration to at least get it running at a reasonable idle. Thanks for the tip though alberto, trying it out today.

try checking/adjusting TPS sensor as well. You can do that either with an external voltmeter or under the ETC menu in the Power FC as it also tells you voltage of the TPS sensor. TPS = throttle position sensor.

Damian has a good thread about adjust TPS in the Advanced Tech section. Just don't pull the coolant line or you will burn yourself.

Well thats kind of obvious just as if your primaries were leaking they would cause idle problems. But you did not specify that as a possibility in your original post .

That was my fault. My brain has been all over the place lately, my apologies. I read your first post as "injectors leaking wouldn't effect idle" not "secondaries wouldn't effect idle"......ahhhh i was messed up obviously secondaries wont effect idle they dont come on until 3k+ RPM!

Anyway, to top everything off my top TPS screw just snapped with minimal force, so yeah my TPS is the culprit for the idle. Now my PFC is showing whacky readings for the TPS but it was idling better actually, haha...it started idle hunting though. I am just going to pickup a new throttle body....I need one.

Still not sure on the boost issue though....what are common symptoms of blown turbos?

Yeah, I think I've passed that stage....hehe. Now I can't seem to get over 5-6 psi of boost....manifold leak wouldn't cause that much boost loss would it?
