idle

my fd wont stay at 1k once the fans go on the rpms go up and then come back down to 1k untill the fan goes on and it goes up...is this normal?

Yes. There are a few components that helps control/raise the idle as electrical load increases.

The computer has an electrical load sensor and compensates by increasing the idle slightly, but your 1K idle speed sounds too high to begin with if you have all accessories turned off.

The Idle RPM should be alittle over 700 warmed up with no load and about 850 with a electrial load ( lights fan over setting 3 ect. ) If the idle never drops below about 1100 1000 RPM the idle solenoid will will not control the idle as it should. It sounds as if you need to reset the target idle.
