94' fd is idiling at 2.2, bumps up to 2.4 and then falls back to 2.2. Problem started on a 120 mile drive all on the highway, didnt notice that it was doing it until I got back into town and stopped at a light. I reset the ecu about 50 miles before the trip and have found no engine codes since then. Last engine codes before the ecu was reset was 11 and 16, but as stated earlier I have yet to see these appear again. Is it safe to drive? Any feedback is much appreciated. By the way, checked a few vacuum lines but cant find any problems yet, not sure if it is time effective to dive deeper into this route. Thanks again.

Had some similar symptoms with my FD too. It started around 2200rpm and then dropped to 2000rpm, plus started to get irratic idling, this was caused by a leak in the lower inlet manifold gasket. If it's never been done before it's a good place to check as it's a fairly common fault. Just a thought. Am no expert though.

 

Will try that. Update on situation, I have found out that if I turn off the interior fan and a/c that it will idle at about 1600. Also, my only mods are a fluidyne radiator.

 

My cars been idling at around 2500rpm and found it to be a LIM gasket as well.

 

Do you guys who have replaced the LIM gasket know of any good walkthroughs or references to the factory service manual to help me out, Im obviously a noob to engine work.

 

its easy to replace but a pain. have u done the vacuum hoses job yet? better have that done too.

What exactly does a Intake Air Thermosensor look like once I get off the intake manifiold?

 

it is just a blue connector sticking out from the underside. it takes a 17mm wrench to get it out.

 

Any way to tell if its bad once I have removed it?

 

Have to agree, if you're taking the inlet manifold off well worth checking out and replacing the vacuum hoses, if they've not been done either you may well have boost leaks and not realise it.
