IACV - humming/buzzing noise

When connected it makes a kind of high frequency buzzer/humming noise. Do they all do this? I never remember it making this noise, and I have replaced it with another second hand one. I've tested both with a 12v power adaptor, they click open and shut fine. It's a weird harmonic noise too, sounds like when a bearing is about to go.

I have heard that before. I would probably pull the ISC and clean it out really well and see if that helps.

I don't know if it's really a problem or not.

Cheers Dale.

I did give it a good blast of WD40. Some cursory googling suggests this could just be harmonic resonance cause by my IC piping being just the right size to act as a resonator, so whilst not doing any harm it's just bloody annoying!

Which ecu are you using?
Mine had the same buzz and I changed the frequency settings in my Adaptronic modular from 100hz to 244hz and it totally cured it.

Power FC. Not sure you can change how the IACV behaves with that ECU? Maybe with a Datalogit. I wonder if I could stick a filter or something on the live side.

I have the power FC also, and only heard a loud humming from it a couple of times. when the car was not running, but in the on position. seemed to be if the car died while running, and I left the key in the on position, while working on something.

I had the same issue on my AEM. It was on the wrong frequency as well. If I remember correct I believed I changed it to 244hz as well.

I don't think you can alter the frequency in the power FC...I think it is hard coded in, but I could be wrong.

I had the same issue on the haltech elite when driving it at 500hz and dropping it to 244hz solved my issue as well.

Yeah, no way to change on the PFC as far as I can work out. If it gets really annoying I might try and take or add an inch to the intake piping which should shift the standing waves causing the noise.
