i wonder...rx-8 tach?
I'd just like to say that after looking at that pic of the RX8 next to the 7 in your profile I'm sooooooo glad I stayed with the FD and didnt get an Rx8.
Anyway, I dunno if it would work, its probably something you might want to ask Mazda

thats the euro lay out (US layout has the temp/fuel on the left and the fake oil pressure on the right.
I go like the digital speedo/tach in 1 unit (i have an 05 rx8) i am willing to bet you could make it work, but it wouldnt be a direct swap...also I doubt you could get the speed to work.
What are you looking for? a higher RPM tack or a digital speedo?
If you want a higher RPM tach there are a few companys that make 10k rpm tachs for the FD, and you could get a digital speedo from DEFI, its the heads up display.

Thats the 'sports cluster' it has a analog tach and boost gauge, lights that can be wired for checkengine, brights, ect.
Below is a digital display that can show 6 ch of data at once, ive seen it read : Oil Temp, Oil Press, Water Temp, Voltage, Fuel Pressure and I think the other was intake air temp....but you can have it read anything you want to input to it, like transmission temp, ect. Its expensive, but a really sharp looking cluster that is also HIGHLY functional.
The other option is the Defi HUD :

it can do speed and a bar to indicate RPM, or it can show any data you want to input, oil temp, water temp....boost, ect.

11k turbo model

11k NA model (rather than a boost gauge, its a manifold vacume gauge)

there is also more info on it here :

FUNCTIONS:
DSSC consists of two analog meters- tachometer (center) and turbo/intake-manifold meter (left).
The EL digital display (25.6MM x 102.4MM) is mounted center bottom.
Each meter has a built-in STS attached to the base of the indicator needle.
The indicator light is amber. The light transmitted for the display and scale of the analog meter is also in amber.
Each meter has a built-in STS attached to the base of the indicator needle.
Displays combination of vehicle speed, engine RPM, turbo/intake manifold pressure, oil pressure, oil temperature, water temperature, EGT, burning pressure, warning & master warning, peak, differential pressure, record & playback (3mins).
Certain display items is also possible with optional accessories: ODO/TRIP, TEMP1 & TEMP2, fuel, throttle opening, G-Force, pedal stroke, steering angle, lap time, voltage.
