Smile I think I found my boost problem

Im getting a steddy 5psi at 3500rpm, and 11-12 at 4500. I just replaced all of the turbo intake hoses to try to cure it and it made no diffrence. Anyway I pulled the upper tube that connects to the air box off, and tried to blow thru the b.o.v and could not, i could not suck or blow thru it. Then I took the other b.o.v off anf I could easily blow thru it. So will some one go out to their car and try to blow thru theirs and tell me if mines good or BAD"hopefully bad".
please please dont pass me up
thank-you very much, DAN

no air should pass through either BOV unless vaccum is applied to it. If you can blow air through it then it's stuck open!

ok the 1st turbo is only putting out 5psi. The bov leading to that turbo is the one that I cant blow thru. The other turbo is working just fine" the one that I can blow thru".

ok, I pulled off the vaccum line to the 2nd turbo when the car was not running, and found that their was vaccum to the bov. Now my question is do you people think that im not getting enough vaccum to open the bov up all the way? My boost guage says that im getting 14 at idle.

If you are only getting 5 psi on the primary then that is not enough to bring the second online.

Yeah but when I hit 4500 rpm it feels like a rocket and the boost holds at 11. I have no idea what is going on, but its going to the shop on tue. "$70 dollars per hr to look at.

some people say you need 5psi on the primary before the secondary will even work, some say 7psi... I have sort of the same problem at the moment, mine only gets to 5-6psi and then at 4500 kicks in to 10psi, but I am tired of troubleshooting and I am going single turbo over the winter..

The mechanic said that my car if fine, infact they said that they never see any come in, in this good of condition. This guy is a master mechanic for the mazda dealership. When I told him that I thought that there should be 11psi in both turbos, he replied " there is no way to know what kind of boost you are putting out because both turbos work together. So I called pettit racing and told them what he said, and they said he is full of ****!
So pettit had me check a few things, like if I had pills, and I did not have any. Well then they asked how are you getting 11psi in the second? So I went to the parts store and bought 2 holly jets and stuck them in and got nothing more?
So now pettit is starting to think that I have a bad turbo.
I just took my car to the track and raced it. My best time was 14.681, and my mph was 102"remember im only putting out 5psi on the first, my 60 foot time is what killed me at 2.538. My only mod. is pettit cold air ind..
When I was racing I got matched up with a 87 5.0 ford must. . He pulled hard at first and jumped 3 car lenghts, but but but, by the end I won by 2 car lengths. Ha Ha and shes not even at full power YET.
I am open to any sugestions on the turbo issue. please help.

This is a copy of the original web site, but in addition it has a lengthy Q&A at the bottom.

Dan, I noticed you had also posted about a "burn" smell. I am having this too. At first I thought it was my new hiflow cat because it smelled kind of sulfury, but now it just is, well, a "burn" smell. Interesting that they said it was oil burning in the turbos, and we are both having boost problems. Coincidence? Think the turbos are bad?
