I searched, ?'bout 99spec lights

Ok, so i searched, i just got my 99spec combo lights from the ups guy, courtesy of Mazda Motorsports, i opened them and one is different than the other on the backside, one side appears to have this rubber thing (for condensation?) and the otherside doesn't.

Is this NORMAL? or do i need to call mazdamotorsports and get a new light shipped?

Weird. I got my 99 combo lights straight from Japan, and I don't think either one of mine had that on the backside. Perhaps yours are the newest 2002 version.

I have the 99spec lights and my body shop has installed it onto my 99spec front bumper. My question is, how do you pop them out? is it a snap on?

if you look in the picture you can see the mounting studs that are sticking out.( rite next to the "here" in the right side of the pic) They go thru the bumper and bolt on from the backside. I would imagine it is like the stock lights on the 93-95 bumper

I had the same question a while back and the answer I got was to go through the back the head light. If they are in the up position it leaves just enough room to slip a small hand down there and twist out the bulbs.

My older '99 spec lights had that rubber piece too. My newer '99 spec lights don't have it. I think I asked this question a while ago. I'll search for the thread.

thanks negative, so my understanding is that the newer lights DO NOT have that rubber piece.

Was anyone ever able to give you an answer as to what the heck it was for?, if it was better with or without it?, etc.

Should i send back one (one light doesnt have it) or should I just install them as is?

TIA
Nick
