Speak of the MOTHER F***ING DEVIL. I go to use my tester yesterday and the BITCH WON'T READ. Does the exact same thing it did last time when it stopped working...powers up and reads all 0's but won't read any pulses or change any of the readouts from 0.

Best thing is, it does this for no apparent reason. First time, I was in the middle of a test, checked the front rotor, but it wouldn't read anything on the back rotor. This time, it tested an engine fine 2 days ago, and was stored in the drawer of my toolbox in the meantime.

I asked the manufacturer people REPEATEDLY to tell me what went wrong and how to prevent it last time but I could not get any answer of any sort...they just wanted me to pay the bill and that was it.

Anybody want to buy a mazda digital tester that needs $268 in repair? I got out my bill last time and that was the cost. I dont know why I was thinking $500.

I have no idea what's fair. New ones are $1600+, and I paid 1200 for this one. But some of those guys were talking like 800 was too much in their eyes. I'm thinking along the lines of 500 as it is or 1000 once I get it repaired...but I really dont want to fool with it.

You can actually build one for about $100. $50 for a transducer, plus another $50 for a logging unit. Search for "DIY compression tester".
